Last spring Holly and I went on a road trip to Prince George. One evening just after sunset we went out to West Lake to check out our old house. Just past the Provincial Camp Site we saw something coming down the road toward us. At first we thought it was a dog but as we went past it we realized it was a fox and he had a rabbit in his mouth. I thought this was too much of a coincidence as in my recent visualizations I had realized that the fox was indeed my totem animal. He had come to me before in my meditations and now here he was in person. The funny thing is that in all the time we lived at West Lake we couldn't recall having ever seen a fox. This was no ordinary fox. When we passed him on the road he stopped and watched us. We backed up and he just sat there and starred at us. We were scrambling trying to get our camera and he started to run away. Holly said, "No wait, I want to get a picture" so he stopped and sat down again. Later after we had visited our old house we came back and he was waiting for us again in the middle of the road. We had a good conversation and then said good bye. We felt like it was a message. We felt his message was: To be calm, not to be afraid, be brave and be patient, and don't run away. I love my totem animal. and I often sign my emails and messages with a fox symbol.
